Get to Know Spring Brook Ice & Fuel!
Founded in 1918 by Herman Doerr, Spring Brook Ice & Fuel first began as a natural ice business. After harvesting the ice from local ponds, Spring Brook began selling to homes and businesses in New Britain, Connecticut, to keep the food and supplies in their “ice boxes” cold.
The business transitioned to delivering range oil for stoves and eventually fuel oil and heating system services during World War II, and we haven’t looked back since. 2024 marks our 106th year in business, and today, we still deliver packaged ice to many local stores and retailers, make fuel oil deliveries and service heating and air conditioning equipment.
We are also helping plan for a better tomorrow by delivering clean, renewable Bioheat® fuel today. Bioheat® fuel is a blend of ultra-low sulfur heating oil and biodiesel fuel rendered from organic materials such as soybean oil, vegetable oil, and used cooking oils to help reduce carbon emissions.
Nothing makes us prouder than knowing that the families and businesses in our community trust us to keep their home or business warm and safe. The last century has been a dream, we look forward to continuous service for another 100 years.
