August is National Water Quality Month -- the perfect time to tell you about the quality and purity of our ice.

We believe that the quality of ice you put in your drinks is as important as the quality of the food you put on your plate – so much so that Spring Brook is proud to be certified by the International Packaged Ice Association (IPIA) – your proof that our ice is produced, shipped, and stored to the highest quality and safety standards. (Next time you purchase ice from us, look for the IPIA logo on the bag.)

In fact, the IPIA is so committed to the safety of ice at the regulatory, retailer and consumer, it classifies ice as food and is recognized as such by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Because ice is food, the IPIA’s packaged ice manufacturing and distributing members are required to meet its rigorous Packaged Ice Quality Control Standards (PIQCS). The standards include mandatory third-party-conducted audits of each member’s manufacturing facilities for personal hygiene, food safety training, sanitary operations of facilities, equipment and utensils; bacteriological testing of the finished product; and much, much more!
